Google reveals what quality content means to them

Google on Tablet

Google’s John Mueller, has been at it again, giving us some useful insight into the inner workings of Google to help us optimise our SEO, website, and overall marketing.

This time, the question posed to John was what is quality content to Google? And the answer may surprise you…

“When it comes to the quality of the content, we don’t mean just the text of your articles… It’s really the quality of your overall website” He then goes on to say that quality content encompasses everything from the layout to the design and everything in between.

Planned surge in online shopping this Christmas

It is that time of year again, when marketers across the world, get their Santa’s hats out and start planning their marketing plan for the festive season. However, after reading this you may want to have a re-think of your strategy.

According to a survey by recommendation platform, Outbrain, 48% of consumers in the UK plan to shop exclusively online in the run up to this Christmas.

Out of those surveyed, a mere 6% said they would shop exclusively in store.

However, rather than this being the end for the high-street, we are seeing more brands investing in physical spaces to compliment the growing demand in online shopping, with Ikea planning to open a new shop in Oxford Street for autumn 2023 after paying estimated £378m to purchase  Topshop’s former London flagship store!

Complaint against Google revealed after redaction reversed

A serious allegation against Google which has been led by the State of Texas on behalf of 12 states has been revealed through unredacted statements.

The lawsuit alleges that Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) were created to limit advertising money not spent on Google’s ad exchanges.

Introduced in 2015, Google’s AMPs were introduced to help “dramatically improve” mobile web performance. However during the case it has been revealed that these states feel that Google throttle load speeds of pages not utilising AMPs to ensure the speed difference was considerable.

This case was raised on 9th September but has been heavily redacted. These facts have now come to light after a New York judge forced the release of the mostly unredacted version.
