Logo and branded material for new Quarrywatch initiative

THE AIM

The Mineral Products industry has a unique history of creating habitats for nature on restored quarries. The Mineral Products Association (MPA) which represents the sector, has recently launched Quarrywatch, an initiative aimed at local wildlife groups, enthusiasts and schools, which involves focussed nature surveys on designated sites with the aim of building a much bigger picture of the species that are colonising restored quarries and other nature sites.

THE SOLUTION

As Quarrywatch is aimed more at the general public –rather than customers/consumers – it was thought that a more ‘friendly’ and ‘playful’ logo would be more appropriate. Working with the MPA, a range of initial concepts were put forward, these varied in approaches and styles to give the MPA as much scope as possible. The logos tried to convey the fun nature of the project. From the feedback provided 2 possible logos were worked on until the final version was chosen.

THE RESULT

Once the final logo was chosen, a second version was set up that members could use to show they supported the campaign. The logo was worked up into colour, mono and whiteout versions. Multiple file formats were then supplied to the MPA to distribute to their members. The logo was then applied to printed items such as pullup banners for an exhibition, posters (in various sizes) for outdoor promotion and a PVC banner for an outdoor event.
